First Day of School
Purpose of Lesson: Creating a class mantra while learning how to move and work in groups and using the image analysis of "see, think, wonder."
See: Each student has a copy of Barbara Kruger's "Not Perfect". The student lists what they "see" in the artwork.
Think: In small groups of three, students compare their list of "see" and answer the question: "How do you think the objects relate to each other?"
Wonder: Combining two groups of three, the larger group compares their "thinks" and then answers the wonder: I wonder how this artwork relates to learning?" The group creates a statement on learning using the discussion items from "see" and "think."
Whole Group: Each presents their 'statement' on learning. The class votes on the best statement or 'classroom mantra.' See 2019's six statements
If time, compare Barbara Kruger's "Perfect" artwork and compare it to "Not Perfect."
